Murder charges have been filed against a woman accused of bringing a trash can containing the partial remains of a deceased man to an area home and pushing it through the surrounding neighborhood Sunday, officials said.

51-year-old Carmen Montenegro was arrested after allegedly wheeling the trash can to a relative’s house and asking for help in disposing of the body.

Montenegro allegedly walked with the wheeled trash can down a sidewalk from her home in the 700 block of North Holmes Avenue to the 900 block of East H Street, where she was arrested, police said.Police believe the unidentified man’s remains were dug up from the back yard of the home in the 700 block of North Holmes Avenue.

One witness told KTLA that when police approached her, Montenegro tried to abandon the trash can in front of his house.

He said that when police questioned her about the remains inside the trash can, she said nothing.

The daughter of the homeowner told KTLA that Montenegro is her cousin and that she did in fact come to the house yesterday with the body asking for help disposing of it.

The homeowner’s daughter said that she did not know who the victim was.

But detectives are looking into the recent disappearance of Montenegro’s ex-boyfriend who disappeared May 1.
